Imagination Library

The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is funded and championed by Literacy Haida Gwaii. This early childhood literacy program is available for children from birth to age five and it is absolutely free for all our little residents of Haida Gwaii.

B is for Basketball

Literacy Haida Gwaii, in partnership with School District 50 Haida Gwaii, created a new alphabet book on aboriginal basketball.
B is for Basketball” is the official book for the 2011 All Native Basketball Tournament held in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Aboriginal basketball is an integral part of life in BC’s aboriginal communities in the north.

Peter Gzowski Invitational for Literacy Fundraiser

Literacy Haida Gwaii is honored to be part of the PGI Canada. There are 15 PGI sites across Canada, with each community taking the lead initiative in fundraising for literacy. We are excited to host this fundraiser again this year.

Aboriginal Library for Old Massett

Library Opening

Literacy Haida Gwaii worked in partnership with the Lt. Governor of British Columbia and the Government House Foundation to set up a library for the community of Old Massett. The library now houses over 3,000 books, from children’s books to adult novels.
